Green Cleaning
Green cleaning is a new approach to developing nontoxic cleaning products using green chemistry, a revolutionary approach which takes into consideration the health of humans, animals and the environment when developing chemical products. Using green cleaning products in homes, childcare centers, houses of worship and schools is a simple, effective step to reducing unnecessary toxic exposures to growing children.
Though as recently as five years ago, many non-toxic cleaning products were less effective and more expensive than their toxic counterparts, thanks to green chemistry, effective, cost-competitive non-toxic cleaning products and practices are widely available today. Everyone can make the switch to green cleaning.
Even government is getting in on the action. In 2006, New York State passed a law requiring all schools and government office buildings to be cleaned with green cleaners, and New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida and other states are pursuing the same goal.
Switching individual schools to green cleaners can be accomplished by a dedicated group of parents and students. To get started, use the resources to the left, or contact the Child Proofing our Communities Campaign.
